The Performing Arts Council was started in November of 1977 with an inaugural performance featuring the Indianapolis Ballet Theatre and Symphony Orchestra. The group was formed after the McHale Performing Arts Center was built as part of Logansport High School. The Performing Arts Center, originally McHale Auditorium, was donated by Indianapolis Lawyer and Logansport High School Graduate, Frank McHale, to be used not only for high school productions but as a community center for performing arts.
The group has existed since 1977 presenting three or four performances a year. Season tickets are sold each year and all seats not sold are then sold to the public.
Some of the performances held over the past include Ray Charles, The Lettermen, Chuck Mangione, Louise Mandrell, Three Dog Night, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Vienna Boys Choir, The Gatlin Brothers, Marie Osmond, Lee Greenwood, Marvin Hamlisch, Crystal Gayle, Harry Blackstone, Jr., Mark Russell, Neil Sedaka, Peter Nero, The Oak Ridge Boys, Glen Campbell, The Platters and the Drifters, Tony Orlando and many more.
The current board is now working on the 2009 season and it will be found here as soon as it it set.
